Question AMD K6/III or 3D+ probs....

I've got a k6/III 3D+ 450Mhz and it crashes when I try and run games, movies or DVD's on it. Its not software or OS related and its not heat thats causing the prob (37 C). I put it down to the S3 ViRGE 2Mb vid card.

Any suggestions???

I think you may be on the right track. A 2mb vid card will have problems with anything that is graphics intensive.
If you can beg or borrow at a minimum an 8mb card to try, see if that makes a difference.

I have the feeling it may want an AGP card to run smoothly.....but i'll try your suggestion first......they don't need the TNT2 PCI at home......

What is motherboard make and model.
I had a K6 3/450+ in a Gigabtye 5AA ALi chipset board, had a bit of trouble getting it running stable but in end overclocked it to 580Mhz stable.
It needed to have a few programs loading in the autoexec.bat file to get it to run at its full potential also there was a problem running nvidia video card in agp slot, but got that sorted in end too.
If you want files can email to you with a copy of bios settings for an ALi chipset and copy of autoexec.bat settings I used.
