I'm tossing up between the MSY deal and a Toshiba A200-M01 thats $1399 + a $100 cashback at Harvey Norman.
So basically a $1299 lappy with: Quote:
(oh and HN have 20 months interest free which is something of a bonus...)

The HP deal is better, but if you can't find any left then I'd suggest an Asus F3JP, I think Pluscorp is still selling them ($1399 delivered I believe).

Yeap I'd probably agree too. HP is better there. 1x1GB Stick and Dedicated graphics (I believe this is what sanjay said).
I'm going to try the Sydney branches. I hope they have some!

Thing is.... the HP is good, but the Asus is better. Also has more warranty (2 V 1).
If you can spend up to Pluscorps $1399, get that IMO.

Apparently the screens on the Asus are pretty crap though...
I know the resolution is 1200x800 (not sure what the MSY HP is), but it's also got a pretty poor viewing angle. Toshy's are supposedly pretty well built as well (according to the Harvey Norman salesman anyway! )

Toshy's are pretty well known for their build quality, but apparently the HP business line have top build quality too.

of course the winner is the HP. but you are going to be VERY lucky to find one left in australia (i think a few stores are ordering them in but the supply is at a trickle, which is understandable)
toshis have great build quality, but their satellites dont the asus is good but for $200 more, IMO its not worth the slight improvement of the radeon x1700 and the DVI port. plus the screen is crappier. the HP is a business grade notebook and has pretty well the best build quality ive seen in a laptop for some time (bar the few dell precisions ive come across, but at $4k youd expect that )

FYI, this laptop is a Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo.
I hope Harvey's isn't claiming otherwise. C2D in a Toshiba A200 starts with the A200/C00 model, which is RRP'ed at ~$1799 |
