Default Power Calibration Error

Hey Guys

ummm i just came to burn a CD and I got a power calibration error in nero

i have no idea what that means so I was hoping someone could shed some light

This is on the Asus F3JV in my sig by the way

here is a pic of the error

also lately sometimes I have to take a cd out and put it in a few times for it to spin up properly and be read by the computer

has my drive died???

should I take it back to where I bought it from?

I had this exact same problem with my Pioneer 108D last year. Tried 3-4 different burning apps too to see if it was the software but nup.
The drive still reads discs, i just won't let it burn anymore --> duds all the time.

So yes, I suggest you get it replaced.

its still well and truly under warranty so i wont be buying any drives myself

If Computer World will give me my money back i'll get a 14" Dell Latitude

If not maybe a newer Asus equivalent model - unless they decide to repair this one :S

of course they'll decide to repair yours. its a $50 drive versus an entire new laptop...

...with warranties, after seven days the seller has every right to choose whatever form of repair they like.
