Default 320 sata reading as 130?

OK, well as per the above title, i have just brought a new pc in parts and assembled it, installed xp pro, and it only belives that theres a 130gig drive there not the 320?

system:
AMD 3800+ X2 64 AM2 chip
ASUS M2N8-VMX board
320gig WD sata hdd
18X dvd burner (pata)
6800 gt vid
300w psu
2x 1gb Kingston ram (dual channel)

Also.. is the 6800 supposed to have a extra power cable with it? as there was none supplied, is up and running atm (im posting on it) but nvidia drivers are saying that there is not enough power running to it.

Please help!!

what OS are you running? If you've installed XP WITHOUT service pack 2, it will recognise only up to 130-ish GB even if the motherboard detects it properly. You need to find a disc with SP2 already slipstreamed onto the WinXP CD so you can detect this drive

Yes, you're meant to hok up the power connectors on the graphics cards since the PCI-E slot will not provide enough power to run it. It'll be fine in 2D mode, but when 3D apps kick in (games), it will need that power to run.

Yes you can & yes it will.
The only problem, if you consider it a problem, will be that you'll have 2 partitions.
It won't simply merge the unallocated with your existing ~130GB partition.
You'll need to use partitioning software to resize or merge the 2 partitions.

I used to be indecisive; not so sure anymore.

Or if you have a small spare HDD (& some free time) install WinXP onto that, install SP2 & then format the large HDD to its correct size. Remove the small HDD & again install WinXP onto the larger preformated HDD.

Bern Edit: Get a legal copy of XP and then come back and ask for help.
