Hi everyone,
It's with great pleasure that I'm here to present to you all the mighty Dell Inspiron 1720. I didn't have much time to play around with it today but at least got a quick shot at 3dmark05 and CPU-Z. More info will come tomorrow when I can run a few more benchies! CPU-Z Dumpfile: Code:

Well, after playing with it for a few hours, I feel this is a very good replacement for the 9400.
The Numpad on the side of the keyboard is the best addition to this new laptop in my opinion. Makes it so much easier to work with Excel spreadsheets etc... It does not feel heavy, it actually feels much lighter than a 9400. The ize remains pretty much the same, but the design really takes advantage of the increased size I think. The positionm of the touchpad makes it hard to get used to due to being a bit more towards the left but it actually is perfect for typing, in that your wrist does not move the mouse unlike the earlier models. Battery life seems to be around 4Hr with the 9 Cell battery. More to come shortly! Last edited by FatBob; 29th June 2007 at 10:27 AM. |

website currently says 256Mb of DDR2 on the gfx card, maybe that explains a low score
A stock 6600GT would score about 4000 in 3dm05 iirc (700/1200 got about 5000)... so yes, *very* unoptimised. EDIT: ok, elsewhere is does say DDR3... whatever

Very nice bob. You got any insight as to when the XPS version of this will be available? Given the release dates of the 9400 and the subsequent XPS M1710 models, it was ~4 months apart, does this seem about the same for this time around? Or will it be less?
