Hi guys , my boss asked me to find him a laptop for work so having owned a few older Dells I looked there and found a decent sounding deal for $999 with:
x2 dual core, 2GB ram , 15.4 screen , Vista , 120GB sata hdd , dvdrw He went to compare prices at some other shops and no one could come close so now hes worried that its too good to be true and that Dell skimped out on quality. My questions are : - Is this a good laptop ? - Does Dell make any of the components or are they manufactured by a "known" company for them? ie mainly mobo for my info - How are current Dell laptops for reliability ? Any help would be great.

ok first of all,
that is a very, very good deal. maybe skimped out on graphics. and most likely yes they are dell/generic parts. but even then, theres nothing rong with generic. reliability? computer is a computer, big or small, fast or slow, they are unpredictable. may be just luck, how you treat it and what programs you put on it. |

Yeah it has a x1300 or something vid card but it wont matter for work use. The feature that seems to grab you is 2GB ram eh for Vista use.

thats rite budd, any holes a goal! lol
buy it while you can. I brought a laptop for myself, with a core 2 1.66ghz, 1 gig ddr2, nvid 7300go, 120gig, dvd -RW, built in webcam + mic. hi def audio. on shelf it was $1600 bundeled with wireless router for 1500. btw its an acer. so i say go for the dell, considering your not big on graphics. |

That is a pretty damn good deal. How bad is the "Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 3100"?
Eight colours to choose from too!
