Default Upgrade CPU in Asus A8jc

Hi there everyone,

I'm a little new here to OCAU, but I'd like some help reguarding upgrading the CPU in my Asus A8jc.

Specs are:

Intel Core Duo 1.73 T2250 (Yonah)
1gb RAM
100gb HDD
Geforce Go 7300

Just wondering if I'm able to upgrade to something Merom, maybe the T7200 or something? I'll probably add more ram first but just wondering if the motherboard will support the CPU as I know that both cpus have the right number of pins, just don't want to fry my laptop BIOS update maybe?

Also, advice whether it is actually worth doing the upgrade, I use it for mostly everyday stuff (Office, Messenger, Browsing) but also Photoshop, ArchiCad and 3d Max at times as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

James

The even numbered meroms will be a drop in replacement, but you might need the latest bios update for the board to recognise the cpu properly.

As for if its worth it... not really. I found the difference between my T2500 and a borrowed T7400 in my XPS to be minimal for everyday activities. Probably not worth the extra $400 odd dollars to upgrade.

Thanks for that, will have a think about the upgrade for a bit longer then. Will probably upgrade other stuff before the cpu anyway.

Thanks for your reply.
