Default Quick question about Dell laptops

Was wondering, the OS they include, do they give you a standard Windows CD/DVD or do they give you one of those ones filled with bloatware, Dell software, etc?

its usually a DVD with all the bloatware on it....just copy the necessary files (I386 directory and setup files) and burn them onto a new cd/dvd...can either make an ISO then burn that or use Nlite.

I have always received windows CD's with every dell I have purchased, with the dell bloatware on separate CD's. The Install CD's are normal windows CD's (excluding some minor changes with the windows help), but with green. blue / purple or brown printing. I have used these cd's on other non-dell pc's, and apart from entering the CD key on the non-dell pc's (not needed on the Dell's - including vista), was a standard install.

Same here, for two laptops and a half dozen desktops.

Ahh good, wanted one of their 13.3" XPS' but it forces you to select a trial of Norton, and you know, once it's on, only a format will get rid of it fully.

^^
and if you use the restore feature (quickly from the image in a hidden partition) it will reinstall it.

you'll have to do a slow fresh install

Ahh good, not a problem. Just ordered it:
13.3" 1280x800
Core 2 Duo T5250 (will upgrade to Core 2 Extreme X7800 - just Dell charge too much for it)
2x1GB DDR2
nVidia 8400
32GB SS Disk
