Drinking Atomic Pale Ale atm, really nice, has a slightly similar taste to the little creatures I think, just 20-30 bucks a case cheaper!

On a side note, tried the Leffe Radieuse at my parents place the other day, was really smooth for an 8.2% beer!

It was deleted at Dan Murphy's so if you can find it, it's only $10.40 for a six pack and absolutely delicious! Sad it's gone.

I'm currently drinking vodka (Finlandia) and Bickfords cranberry cordial, with shitloads of ice and a bit of lime juice.

It's not bad

Nah, it was in one of those beers of the world packs at Woolies, that I got for xmas.

Says brewed in Canada.

Tried the Dry Dock last night too, and thought it was way to similar to extra dry.

I could never work that one out. Disappointed me when I first found out. Guess it's still imported...

IIRC those oddly shaped 500ml silver cans are the only way to go if you absolutely must have the Japanese brewed article.

However, my gut tells me Coopers would do a decent job of it, and considering beer doesn't tend to travel esp. well (excepting those of higher strength) it may even be closer in taste to drinking it in Japan.

It is one reason I end up at T42 so often, Leffe, Chimay etc all there and not outrageously expensive. Explains why the Tapist monks are so happy. Worrying part is I can drink a heavier beer as fast as some mates on the normal beers.

The Trappist Monks tend to drink a weaker 'patersbier' brewed for themselves that is rarely offered for sale.

Edit:
The reason the big Belgians can be drunk so easily is they're balanced with equally large flavours.
Anyone who homebrews knows how easy it is to make a high-strength beer. The trick is in getting it to not taste like turps.

Even the Asahi 'imported' bottles are brewed in Canada.

IMHO there are far better craft brews avail. and many of them brewed locally so I struggle to see why I should buy a macrobrew shipped halfway around the world.
Esp. one of Pale Lager variety (assuming we're talking about the Draft/Premium stuff).

I rarely drink any examples of the type these days, and certainly don't seek them out, but I hear good things about Epic Lager which only has to wing its way over from NZ.
Swear I saw it at my Woolies bottlo the other day too so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Sam Adam's Boston Lager and Brooklyn Lager are superior and cheaper, but I'm not much of a Lager fan.

Get onto the ales mate!
