why dont u just run one 250w for the system (ATX) and one for the fans/lights(AT).
that way u have a push button switch for the second one as well. you can still buy a complete AT case from Gamedude for $45 bucks so its pretty cheap to rob the psu out of. I think this would work anyway ![]() RaD |

thats what i did, i ripped out the old psu from my pentium166 case and took it outta the box and drilled it to the side of my case, u dont have to do that of course!
i use it for the fans/neon/fone charger its a bit of a health hazard atm, its got nothing covering it and i already zapped myself once, fucking hurt but i dont think i was properly grounded so i didnt die

As explained above, this is so easy to do. And it works REALLY WELL.
It is so great to have two PSU's turn on together (and normally) from the ordinary 'turn on' switch. This basically means ANY moron can still turn on your computer. With the system that RaD described, all it takes is a family member or friend to power up you machine without turning on the second PSU and you will fry anything that a fan is attatched to (cause they won't turn on!!!) One hint. Instead of hardwiring the two cables together, install a plug. That way, you can still inplug the second power supply EASILY. If you are still unsure of what you are doing, email me. I have some really good articles and diagrams that I can send you. I only have them saved on my home computer, and not here with me at uni.

If your atx PSU has both 240v in, and a loop to supply 240v out (usually for a monitor), what you can do is plug your at psu into the 240v out of the atx psu with a simple male to female power cable. That way you can leave the at psu on all the time and it will be supplied with power only when the atx psu is turned on (via the 'on switch').
If you already have a monitor plugged into the 240v out, you can get a y splitter cable (from www.jaycar.com.au) and that way you can still run your monitor, and your second at psu. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can run a wire from within the atx psu, down to the at psu. But be careful, cause that is 240v of power you will be messing with. You may also need to consider how much power the atx psu can supply out that 240v out option. Don't go overloading it!! If your atx psu does not have the 240v loop back, I have no other suggestions??
