Well 1.03 completely fucked the game. Well done BIS.

Two CTD's and one server crash in just 2 hours of trying to game. Would love to get my money back on this ALPHA level, shitty software.

...yes...

p.s

lets just say that for all the hate directed towards it in this thread, at least OF2 have pushed back launch dates couple of times rather then rush out an unfinished game. If codemasters come out with a polished game without all the control, interface & communication niggles that this game has, let alone the bugs, then i expect ArmA to die quietly in the corner unless some majors updates get released.

I think the reason this game was pushed out early was to reap sales before it was ARMA2 vs OPFP2. By the videos, OPFP2 will kick ass in it's HC mode, so it will lose fans in that regard and also gain the plethora of 360 owners for standard mode. But that's BIS down to a tee, they continue the long tradition of releasing unfinished garbage whilst blaming everything else for their problems but themselves.

Still, since starting the campaign again I have encountered no more of the old problems, so here's hoping it keeps it up.

Before everyone gets too much sand in their vagina... server crashes and ctd's seem to VERY much depend on the particular mission being played..

I have been on two servers that did not crash in an entire afternoons play, and another one - playing a particular EVO 3.3 mission that crashed repeatedly within an hour of play..

You get a good mission and it's rock solid ..

Now, while its obvious that SOMETHING in 1.03 fubared some missions, the game is not a write off yet..

http://arma2.swec.se/game/statistics

Domination is by far the most popular mission played online. For BIS to go and make it even worse compatibility wise is just completely ignorant of their own game/supporters and down right lazy.

Thumbs down

Yep I have been getting random ctd's too! Arma2 has stopped responding and shit like that!

This is annoying as he'll, I would love to get my money back on this game especially if of2 comes out and takes theblime light.

I still can't get the game to run at an acceptable smoothness. Turning object details to very low ruins the game too.

Sorry to say but this migration over from bf2 to arma2 has been a very lack lustre experience and it simply should not be this hard to get a game going. Overclocking the f out of my q6600, buying a gtx285 snd adding more ram was a beautiful waste of money. Though least I can play any other games at highest details! Crysis warhead now likes everything up very high maxed out with vsync etc

bis - next patch better fix the optimizations because it's just bs how the game runs! How can u get a gaming community going if 99 percent of the population can't play the damn game well!

/end rant

Is anyone else getting random patterns on the screen (Not tearing/Artifacting) then hard lock?

Happens roughly every 15-20 minutes.

Card temps seem normal. 8800gts, latest drivers.

Theres nothing but bitching in this thread. I play the game fine, and enjoy it. Its a fantastic military simulator and thats going to mean less sales, and less money to have squads of people working on bugs.

Operation Flashpoint 2 goes for mass appeal so its able to bring a more polished (but neutered) military themed shooter to the market. In typical fashion, it shows off every gun and vehicle as if they were works of art, and makes you think you're SAS without any of the skills. And frankly, a lot of you should've just waited for that; you dont seem to care whether or how realistic the shooter you're playing is, just whether its the flavour of the week

If you are having problems playing the game, use your grey matter and try and narrow the problem down. Why arent others having the same CTD's? Try reinstalling the game or checking vid card temps. If youve got artifacting youve obviously got to check the usual 3d mark and atitool for whether its the hardware going bad, or clean uninstall and reinstall graphic drivers. Dont just assume its gotta be the game's fault, because theres a whole lot of people who dont have CTD's, dont have artifacting, and are playing fine.

If youve just installed the patch and notice this or that mission doesnt work, then dont play it and wait for the servers to fix it. Every multiplayer game patch gets bitching; just think Company of Heroes and the comedy of errors in game balancing with every patch. Compare this to other simulators like Falcon 4.0 or Iron Warriors; this is the closest to 'gamer friendly' that you get.

And yes, the game does have some issues. But what its intended to be is a military simulator with tools to create scenarios that you and others can play. It is meant to simulate combat scenarios, though it does provide you a campaign (something VBS, the military versions, dont). Its not meant to be a seamless gaming experience in the vein of BF2 or Farcry 2, with big explosions everywhere to make you feel excited (War is not meant to be an adrenaline rush!). When a shooter is this niche and from a small developer financing the project themselves, its going to be a little rough around the edges. IF all you want is polish, look elsewhere

if it doesn't last five minutes, then the fault is with your machine, or the mission you're playing

Dont blame the game. I've had hours straight of rock stable play... some missions are broken with this new patch. Yes..

when it worked endlessly for hours before the patch then suddenly crashes with the new patch, I dare say it's related to the patch.

I am playing multi like I always have also.
