Default Nintendo Wii - Not playing virtual console games over component?!?!

When i try and play virtual console games over my 32" HDTV (LCD) the screen just goes blank. If i push the home button the screen comes up again but once i push the home button again to play the game its blank again. I have tried a combination of all the video settings and wide screen/normal settings but nothing helps.... Can the Wii play the likes of Super Mario World etc on component??!!

Mine works fine. Changes from 480p which is what its set at and goes to 576i for VC games. Does it work normally in 576i mode? Tried removing and redownloading the games?

Do you have official Nintendo component cables?

What happens when you set your Wii to 576i mode rather than 480p (HDTV)?

PAL games over Component
Initially, some PAL Virtual Console games would not display correctly on high-definition televisions when connected via the component lead. However, starting with the April 13, 2007 update of the PAL Virtual Console, certain newly added games, such as Punch-Out!!, support the "Wii Component Cable Interlace mode." This is a temporary fix to problems with various Virtual Console games being played over Component Cable on HDTVs. The mode can be enabled by accessing the operations guide of the game, and (with the Nunchuk attached) pressing the buttons Z + A + 2 simultaneously. A sound is played if the mode is enabled correctly. Several older games also have updates available to enable the feature, including Super Castlevania IV and Super Mario Bros. The mode can be disabled by using the same method, but with the button combination Z + A + 1 instead.
I had problems as well with street fighter i think, but after the update i had no problems with it regardless of what setting i had for component. this was hooked up to an Acer 3201w.

just make sure that ur wii is updated.

don't think it matters bro, they all work the same. Unless you bought some dodgey $7 piece with absolutely no quality, I doubt it will even work at all.

Yep it shouldn't cause the problem he is describing I know. The update sounds like the problem.

Do you have a digital clock on your Wii Home screen? If not, update.
