Probably wasn't me, but I had a great session with a soldier today as a medic. They're not as boring as you would believe, especially when you get a couple of kills with the needle gun

Yeah man. This is the ULTIMATE study destroyer. I've done sweet fuck all but TF2 and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 the past 3 weeks.

7 years ago, it was Rollercoaster Tycoon and TFC.

Great Moments In Gaming History #1:
The Medic Captures Cap 1 on Dustbowl

I feel like a wanker posting this, but yesterday I think I did the most awesome (and unintentional) thing EVAH!oneone.

I was ubering up as a Medic waiting for the round to begin. immediately upon the gate opening I'd ubercharged a Heavy at the gate and followed him out of the doorway. He was pushed back by a turret or Pyro, whilst I charged on past him foolhardily. Amusingly, I stumbled over about a dozen Demoman's sticky mines and was LAUNCHED across the map, hitting the invisible roof about 12m off the ground and not landing until the ENTRANCE of the right mine shaft. I kid you not, the mine shaft. I landed unscathed due to the ubercharge lag and amazingly no one had seen my unexpected entrance.

I then proceeded into the capture point from the rear ground entrance and syringed an engineer and single handedly took the point, to the utter dismay of a full strength defense (tough bastards too), and the astonishment of my teammates (nothing better than playing on a server with lots of mic'ed teammates!!).

Total time to capture fully protected capture point 1? 15 seconds!

FUCKING CLASSIC!

Heh. The fast heavy bug/exploit is pretty funny, especially when a couple of people do it at once.

I've seen people pull that off intentionally. Scout double-jumping up onto the grain cart, creeping through the holes in the side next to it, and dropping down into the cap point produces a very fast cap. Noone's yet cottoned onto the fact that scouts can get up there, and that people can move in/out of those gaps, so they're all facing the bottom front door or loitering around behind the back door, ripe for the raping with scattergun from above.

Ouch, sucks. It feels great when you manage to rack up a nice number of points.

Do you often get crashes? Why not try looking into the tech support thread? It may yield answers.

Question

I tend to crash once every 4 hours-ish. Usually back to desktop, and sometimes I need to hard reset my system.

QUESTION:

-dxlevel 81 forces hardware level directx 8
-dxlevel 90 forces hardware level directx 9

Am I safe to assume that -dxlevel 93 forces hardware level directx 9c?

At the moment, I can only get my game running using -dxlevel 90, but I don't think this is the lastest directx 9c mode. If I use -dxlevel 93, I get a crash upon entering a map.

For some reason, even when the advanced launch options are clear, the game launches in the directx mode that was last set in those advanced launch options. In the very early days of the beta, my game wouldn't even load, so I entered -dxlevel 81 to get the thing playable. After deleting that, the dx 8 mode stuck, and thus, I can't get the game to autodetect and figure it's own shit out.

Had an awesome game last night, my first decent go with the spy, racked up a score of over 60.

Had one moment where I was being chased by an engineer, so I cloaked, went around a corner and hid against the wall, watching the engineer run past trying to catch me!

I'm not so good with the sappers yet, but pwn pretty hard with the backstab
