Engadget are reporting on a new 15" XPS beast. Looks good!

Quote:
For those of you potential XPS M1330 customers out there whose orders have yet to be fulfilled or who are still within your 30 day Dell grace period, take heed. We've just gotten a booty load of information on the successor to the tainted throne, the XPS M1530. Featuring:

* 15.40-inch display (CCFL up to 1680 x 1050, LED up to 1440 x 900)
* Core 2 Duo options from 1.5GHz (T5250) up to 2.6GHz (T7800)
* Crestline GM/PM 965 chipset with up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
* GeForce 8400M or 8600M GS options (up to 256MB)
* Slot-loading Blu-ray / 8x DVD±RW
* Options for 802.11a/b/g/n, WWAN, Bluetooth
* HDMI, VGA, 1394, ExpressCard, (3) USB 2.0, Ethernet, fingerprint reader, media reader
* 2.0 megapixel (with CCFL) or 300k (with LED) cameras
* Weight supposedly 4 pounds to start (which is pretty light, we're assuming that's sans battery)

It's slated for November 7th release, but don't fault us if they miss that ship date, ok?

finally lol dell might be getting some more of my money... have been waiting for an xps 15.4 inch for a while

it looks great cos its the same design as the 1330 and hopefully the performance is all good to! but as people have said on notebookreview the graphics card could be a weakish point if correct

i am in the market for a new laptop and have reservations about the 1330 due to the screen size (system i configured with 22inch external monitor was $3.5k but would prefer not to have to use an external monitor) and reservations with the 1730 due to its physical size and looks (but is really powerful and would suit what I mainly do ... photo editing/ photoshop / graphic design / simple gaming all for $3.7k but it says its as thick as my Inspiron 9100 lol and that powerpack is ridiculous lol (nothing different to what I have now anyway lol) would be trading a brick for a brick haha)

but would prefer a 15.4 inch laptop in all reality so this might be the solution I have been waiting for!

Does the 1330 have the bluray option?

13.3" perfect screen size i reckon, perfect compromise of portability & screen size.

Should be similar price as 1330 on release, seeing as 15.4" lappys are usually cheaper.

4 pounds = 1.8 kg

thats pretty fricken light for a 15.4 inch laptop ! though I very much doubt it will really weigh that little.

Probably about 2.3-2.4 with battery .... I'd still go the 13.3 xps personally.

WWAN is a 3G mobile phone module. The laptop has a sim card slot which you put your 3G sim card into, and then you can use your laptop like a phone. I think it's mainly used for making using of data though (as opposed to making calls), wireless internet access, instead of having a PCMCIA or Express card sticking out. Expensive though.

Likewise, 14.1" is the definately the ideal size between portability and screen resoultion (~1400x1050)
I do hope Dell make one, otherwise I'll have to tradeoff between the M1330 and M1530

8600m gs is a bit weak, even the 1520 comes with a 8600gt. It would be nice to see one of these with a 8700gt, and maybe a 14.1 with a 8600gt like the Zepto.
