Default Replacing Laptop Harddisk

Hi,

I have an acer 8104Wlmi notebook and I want to replace the hard disk in it... Purely as I want to re-install windows, but in case something goes wrong I can put back in the old disk and carry on working (I use this thing every day)...

Anyway, its a Seagate 100mb disk, 5,400, and i'm wondering if I would be able to put in a bigger capacity disk and also a higher spin speed disk, maybe a 7,200... Any ideas if there would be problems with the running of the notebook, from a thermal point of view? Or anything else come to that...

I also believe Acer implemented a PATA disk rather than a SATA disk for this notebook, if that makes any difference...

Thanks
