not really portable..
that is the whole thing about laptops isnt it?
when its too heavy to have on your lap and you need a desk, doesn't it then become desktop?

well i have an Asus F3JP. Its fast, and its reasonably light for what its got in it. 2ghz dual core, 2gb ram, 120gb hdd, X1700 256MB graphics.

Its a bit heavy after carrying it all day but its fine on my lap. im considering buying a base model macbook, just for work though, because its so light. but the Asus is a happy medium between fast laptop and portable work laptop.

I've always wondered if the alienware laptop and pc's look as good in the flesh as they do in the website pics.

Why not just get the XPSM1730?

Alienware is owned by Dell anyway

i was about to suggest the same thing, while the graphics are a little lacking in raw speed they are dx10 compatible, you have the option of a ppu and all the other specs remain the same. i imagine dell support in aus might be a tad better than alienware too, but that's not based on any experience or fact.

ive never really gotten the whole "alien theme" thing, and how the eyes light up and shit. It seems kind of a bit tacky and childish. The specs are pretty good, interesting having a RAID on a lappy, built in TV tuner which sounds cool. It seems more like a luggable thing rather than a real portable.

I'm pretty sure the AUstralian distributor (they're out of SA) I cant remember their name, are owing 100Million dollars to various ppl.

I swear there was a thread on here where a guy was waiting on 4 Alien Ware laptops to arrive...

Ahh, found a link... but it really doesn't make my claims stand up now and I CBF'd finding any more...

Weight of the lappy is no problem, im just looking for something powerfull but smaller then my tsunami dream case

DX 10, its there really a great need for it at this point in time?

So its between

m9750
http://www.alienware.com/product_det...AD0033#pdp-nav

M1730
http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/prod...dhs1&~lt=popup

Personly i like the m9750, even when its upgraded quite a bit its still cheaper then the M17300, also it looks nicer
