wierd shutdown and resart problem with XP

Everytime XP shuts down or restarts it says it was not shutdown properley and it gives the safemode menu.

This is on a brand new system clean install

Epox kt3a(ithink DDR333)
Xp 1800
Asus geforce4 ti4400

can anyone help?

have u tried updating winxp? I think there was a fix for this.

yeah I had this problem too. There is a fix for it on WU as Bone pointed out.

Probably the problem where the hard drive turns off before it clears the cache.
