If you're using Windows Vista then the ram usage should be normal + other Asus bloatware would also contribute, but does it run fine/smooth? As to the beeping, I'm not sure.. maybe temperature warning?

i have had issues with the sidebar in vista before, maybe that is causing it?

is there a specific process that is using alot more ram than normal in the task manager? have you checked the event viewer for error logs?

do you have shonky programs running? :P

what ram did you get for the upgrade to 2gb? run a memtest on it?

have you had a look for asus' beep codes?
