Looks interesting, though the screen is a bit disappointing - why doesn't it go all the way across, and all the way to the top? - That black space on either side, and at the top / bottom makes it look rather dated:

Damn, I am so buying one when they come out here. Not that I have any real use for it, but the sheer tiny-ness and power of it is totally worth it.

![]() yeah true, though if you look at speaker technology, and camera technology in phones, I'm absolutely sure they could fit them without sacrificing screen size - perhaps the screen is quite expensive to make, in larger sizes...

I dunno, I just think it'd be useful. I've started running one of my PC's 24/7 as a file server and download box, and I've set up web interface on the programs to control it - so it'd be handy to have a little laptop I can carry around with me to link back home/whatever, rather than lugging my 15" one around (which is also an Asus, gee, guess the marking department DOES love me!).

I would have been happy to sacrificed having crappier speakers and no camera to have the whole form factor reduced.
Look at that screen, theres a huge black space around it, bit of a waste ![]() like anyones going to want to use a webcam on it I wonder if parts are easily user upgradeable (i.e. the ram) |

I was planning to get one, but I've completely given up. The original specifications were a 4GB SSD and 512MB of RAM for $200US. Now it's $300US for half the storage space and half as much RAM.
Asus also put information about a PC801 (8" LCD) on their site for a little while before taking it down. I'll wait and see if that turns up for a reasonable price.

ill be importing one as they come out... i wonder if other companies like sony / samsung will drop their price?
ill either be getting 4gb or 8gb and then just buy an 8gb sd card for additional storage. Last edited by browniezzz; 17th October 2007 at 4:19 PM. |

This is such a let down from the original specs/idea. Probably won't get one now.

looks like a POS, however it's probably got a market - kind of like Hyundai Excels have a market

It looks a lot better in black.
A good option for a HTPC IMO.

a heaps wide (and short) screen would have been better, then you could read word documents and stuff easier.
