Just thought someone might want a headsup on one of these mini-ITX motherboard/CPU combos off ebay as seen here Gigabyte PCV2.
I'm still thinking what to do with it, mini MAME box, server, carPC etc etc. Any other sensible ideas are welcome. Cheers!

Torrent box would be perfect
Apparently these combos can draw as little as 1W when completely idle in WinXP.

Nice! Ordered one.
I might try to mount it in the bottom of my current case. With only an mATX board in there at the moment, it's looking a bit empty. Unfortunately I can see that this is going to hurt my bank account quite a lot. DDR RAM isn't cheap any more, and I'm reluctant to take any from the other systems. Has anyone managed to find it on Gigabyte's website? EDIT: Found a perfect use for it. It can be my main web-browsing PC over the summer. The main one's got a Pentium-D in it, which tends to act as a very effective room heater. The Via system will be fine as a replacement.

Where? I've just spend half an hour on StaticICE looking for RAM and the cheapest I've found is $55.

After doing some more checking, it seems that this would also be excellent for running old operating systems. It seems to have only three devices which require drivers:
Pretty much, you can go back to 98SE and have everything working.

USB 2 support is a good plus, escpecially since I have an 80GB USB drive.
I was the first to buy on and there are only 11 left now, so they are going quite quickly. I had a look on ebay.com and he's selling them to Americans too, but for more money. ![]() Just staticiced mini-itx and found that pluscorp a OCAU sponser has 60 and 80W mini-itx cases for $42 and $60, which is alot cheaper than anyone else.

Yeah those systems are pretty nice.. i have an 800mhz via chip on a CLE266 platform and for anything that isnt cpu intensive its good... and i swapped the cpu cooler for a passive NB sink
![]() Oh yeah, and copying files over 100mbit will see cpu usage of about 90% (on my system) |
