Default *URGENT* Compaq Presario F555AU problems

Hey,

Bought Mum a Compaq Presario F555AU and have run into a few problems already. Mum doesn't like Vista at all (it comes with Vista Home Basic) and it's having a few problems (like showing that the battery isn't even charging, I've tried the fix that I've found but it's not working) so I want to install XP onto it. Problem is, I can't seem to find really ANY drivers for it on the Compaq website, the only drivers I can find are and they barely have any drivers there at all.

So I kinda need help as the laptop doesn't even come with a CD of windows, it's only a recovery partition and even I'm not sure if that will work or not. Does anyone know where I'm able to find some drivers for it? I've googled for them but can't find any chipset drivers, or audio or wireless or anything.

Help!

I hope you created a recovery CD before trying to install XP, most lappies these days dont come with media, they just tell you to create a recovery disk when finally setting it up. Have you tried to install the Vista drivers from the compaq website (not sure if this will work but maybe worth a shot).

XP drivers from the HP website

Ok that's weird, I swear I put the link in my OP but now I see it's not there They are the only drivers I can find, but doesn't include anything to do with the chipset, wireless, networking etc. Hence why I don't want to try and use XP before I know I can actually get access to those. I was going to make a recovery disk, but I called up the retailer that we bought it from and the battery fault seems to be more then software. Mum actually neglected to tell me that the battery has worked before, just not anymore. So when I head back to Perth tomorrow I'll drop it in. I'll be asking them if they can give me a copy of XP instead but don't like my chances haha.
