Default Blackberry 8310

I'm thinking about purchasing one of these, does anyone have experience with the 8310 Curves?

A search didn't seem to bring up much info on these.

what do u need to know?
theres affordable plans on optus and vodafone.

the phone is made like a sack of crap. dust under the screen seems to be a common problem.

external speaker is very loud.

i dont use the media player at all. so cant really comment.

the os is kickass and stable as a mofo. the phone is very fast and very responsive.

gps works as it should. google maps does an ok job. no voice directions, no automatic rerouting.

GPRS is pretty slow, but it seems to do the job.

battery life is fantastic. it will work solidly for a full day, receiving plenty of data. and 1 - 2 hours of talk.

if u love IM and email, nothing comes close to this device.

4.3 update is just around the corner to bring some nice features to 8310

there isnt very many downsides to this phone. there isnt anything on the market id swap my 8310 for.

forgot, sms is delivered in sms conversation. its not as good as the palms, but it will show it in conversation style.
which is pretty handy if u seem to have forgotten the context of what u sms'd

its durable, its just not what you would expect from a phone in this modern day.

it seems its a problem with the lens and the housing as it lets dust in.

if things like that bother you, then it would probably drive u insane.

having said that, some people dont have dust, but some others have, so it could be luck of the draw. but i have owned both the 8300 and now 8310 and its exactly the same problem.

Does it cost a lot to do this on Vodafone? (dont know which network u are on)

The 8310 is the best blackberry yet. Yes dust is a problem but if you get yourself a nice leather holster for it and carry it in that rather than just in your pocket, dust should be less of an issue.

Lots of Blackberry users complained about dust in the older 8700 model but I never got any dust in mine cause mine lived in its included leather belt holster.

surfing the net is still rather old hat, as the browser doesnt support full html.

yes, web access and email is accessible from anywhere.

the 8310 doesnt have wifi. so its gprs only.

im with optus, on an older $99 plan.
theres a $79 plan with unlimited data tho.

Hi just interested in getting one of these off ebay,

but can someone help me with what this means?

This listing is guaranteed 100% brand new in original box & no contract required. Just need to insert an active SIM card from AT&T/Cingular and it is good to go.

Listing claims the phone is unlocked but the part aobut AT&T/Cingular scares me, it is REALLY unlocked? can i just use my optus sim on it? ($49 cap)

imo if you're uncertain or can't get a guarantee from the seller, stay clear.
