But then, as I said, it was - another game. One that reminded me of the original 'Fear' to be honest. I genuinely believe that Mass Effect 2 was a turning point. I deeply cared for the characters and as I said before, it placed me in environments that felt alien, new. The loading screens were integrated into the game - you never broke immersion. This one, well, the gunplay isn't great and I've crouched behind barrels in warehouses hundreds of times to avoid guards. It was sold to me as a turning point, and it's not. Deus Ex 1 was something new. This isn't, really. But as I said, I'll give it another shot. Maybe after I finish the 'Jack' mission in ME2. Hehe.

Have to say I am very happy with this game, not quite DE1, but very close and it has some real improvements over the first one, mainly takedowns and the stealth.

Are you able to switch between approaches? Ite was mentioned you ahve to choose your style at the start. stealth, combat, etc. Are you able to switch between them all, or will you just be cutting yourself on experience points?

You do upgrade your augs usually for one style of gameplay, but by halfway through the game you can have upgraded hacking to almost max, have level 1 dermal armour (enough imo) and some decent weapons and still sneak around everywhere.

You can mix it up however you like, those choices at the start only determine what equipment you start with.
There is always a higher XP reward for going stealth/non-lethal. Also, patch release Quote:

Sweet, thanks.
Also, is someone willing to purchase and gift me the game (from greenmangaming with the code) and have me DD the money into their account? Not really willing to pay $80 for it :/ |

Logged a bit of time on this last night and managed to get back to where I was in the beta. This time through I was a lot more thorough though, hacking every terminal for the extra xp, etc.
Still loving it. Really captures the essence and feeling of the original. I just adore the cyberpunk Renaissance style - so cool that Sarif has inlaid gold in his arm like some modern day Medici weapon, and he has what I assume is a Caravaggio hanging in his office. There's also so many cool winking references to dystopian sci-fi concepts and themes such as those from Jennifer Government, Neuromancer, Bladerrunner and Ghost in the Shell series. If you actually stop and read the newspapers and ebooks and emails, it's clear a lot of thought went into the world-building. Indeed, arguably it's a lot more sophisticated than Deus Ex ever was. The whole scientific jargon around aug rejection also seems really well developed. Lots of research presumably went into it. Last edited by Wolf; 26th August 2011 at 10:16 AM. |

STUTTER!!!!!!!
http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2075294 On my q6600 @ 3.6Ghz + ATI 6950 = Level caching stutter when approaching new areas + some stutter/frame skip when looking around at times. (Tested before last nights patch) Max dx11 settings, 1080p, - tessellation, +vsync. On my rig in sig (i7 860 @ 4Ghz + 460 SLI) = Quite smooth (only tested this morning post last nights patch) Level cache stuttering seems to occur in the exact locations as my q6600 but on the this rig the stutter is virtually non existent @ max dx11 settings, 1080p + vsync. Tested on first levels.

Also only played the first level but it was definitely possible to do both approaches. I stealthed past the warehouse part and then gunned down the guys in the office (shouldn't have hit sprint )

I'm surprised how well this game runs on my rig.
However, I've have noticed a couple of bugs with certain missions. I found some dirt on Chet Wagner but couldn't do anything with it

Got 10mins in last night. Sick as a dog and a quiz this afternoon I should probably get a medical cert. for.
First impressions: - Menu design is nice - Combat is a bit awkward but I'm sure I'll figure it out, only as bad (/different?) as Mass Effect - Not quite as smooth in some points as I'd hope, can probably tweak it a bit - Gun model didn't look as nice as I expected - Happy overall with how it seems to run on my rig....looking forward to running through it again over the Christmas break when I get an upgrade. Looking forward to sinking at least a couple of hours in over the weekend with work/study.

Nah
This game doesn't suck, but its pretty average console port. The gun play is horrible and why do we need a cover system on pc? There is no choice in augmentation either its full guns or enjoy dieing to first boss over and over. I wanted to make a stealth hacker style character like in the first game and now the first boss is unkillable. So now the only avenue is make a new game and pick augmentations that will allow me to kill the first boss and miss out on hacking turrets and computers. Very disappointed, after weeks of telling us there's many ways to defeat the game; except that you have to go full combat to actually get anywhere LOL uninstalled not good enough, not 50% of original.
