Default No idea where I could put this - A request

*If this is in the wrong place feel free to move it, I had no idea where to put this*

This is my new avatar -

It's 9kb too big to use on the forums. Can someone compress it or something for me so I can use it? I spent half an hour copying and pasting just to find its 9kb too big, so some help would be greatly apriciated .

Would it be possible to use a program to crop it to like 58x58 or something?

Try Animation Shop (it's part of Paint Shop Pro). It's what I used to get my avatar cropped and resized .

I got it down to 8.4k if you want it. Basically if you delete a couple of frames and take the colours down to 16 you should be able to do it.

Here is a tip I found in a magazine:

They said that if you slightly blur the image or at least blur non essential parts of the image you can cut the size down by 20%. This might help people trying to shrink their images small enough to put up here at Overclockers.

UPDATE...I just tried this inside photoshop 6. I opened a 73kb jpg file, used .5 gaussian blur and the file went down to 37kb with very slight bluring visible. Even using .2 gaussian blur brought it down to 44kb with no visable difference to my eye.

Is that removing frames and blurring to hide it?

I'd imagine simply using the blur on existing frames would allow the compression algorithm to make significant savings on space... Since it's animated it will make little difference visually unless you really crank up the blurring.
