Default Net intermittently dropping off for a few users

Hey guys,

Have a problem with a clients network... Im pretty new to IT. And have asked around with senior techs but they are not much help atm.

Basically they have a network of 20 machines. No firewall.
Couple of different users have no internet for a good 15mins. They can ping the server but cannot ping external IP or hostnames.
Different users and happens 2 times a day most days.

The internet is not on full load also.

Any ideas would be great.

Cheers.

Need a bit more info really

Are they on the same LAN? different VLAN's etc? Is it always around the same time? Any routers? Sounds like NAT may be shitting itself... could be wrong though.

I wouldn't think that 20 pcs would kill nat, eg using up all available ports on the nat pool.

You say you can ping server but not net, is the server the gateway? Or is there also a router in the network.

Are the 20 pcs on the same vlan network, hanging off the same switch. etc.

Network layout would be an advantage.

And just on a side note, you have been employeed to look after this network but yet goto forums/google to do your job?

I remember when I used to use a Cisco 2514 back in the day for my router at home... load up uTorrent and bang goes the Internet... those were the days
