Vista SP1 to hit Windows Update Tuesday, reports say

March 15, 2008 (Computerworld) Microsoft will release Windows Vista Service Pack 1 next week to a wider audience, according to information posted on Amazon.com and reports from a Web site that correctly called SP1's ship date last month.

Amazon currently lists Vista SP1 retail copies as available next Wednesday, March 19, while TechARP.com, the Malaysian Web site that nailed the update's release to manufacturing (RTM) date several days early, said users would be able to download SP1 starting Tuesday, March 18.

Don't worry you'll be seeing people bitching about "why can't i see sp1 in my windows update window" if they are still going to be checking people's systems if they have any driver conflicts.

I installed Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 a few days ago and I must say its good. Everything feels nice and quick, but the best thing for me is that my old transfer rate from my gaming PC to my server was 30mb/sec over gigabit LAN, with SP1 it has doubled up to over 60mb/sec! Finally utilising my gigabit network

I just doubled the speed, and considering gigabit theoretically maxes at about 100mb/sec that isnt too bad. 6x 100mbit speeds are hardly something to "lmao" about.

Even if he could do 100mb/sec. That means the HDD's being read from would need to be in RAID0 to get the speeds that high. Then the person on the other side would need RAID0 to be able to write to his drives at over 100mb/sec.

lmao indeed.
