Danes are awesome dogs! unfortunately they have a preety short life expectancy - probably the reason they are so popular crossed rather than pure!

Had a dane when I was living in the UK - and even by dane standards she was a big girl! had a 6 foot high fence in the garden, and she would easily jump over it to get at next door's little scotty for a play!

Yeah, the keyword there is "crossbred" and trained for boar hunting. No one expects a pigdog bitza to be a cuddly pet, dane or not.

Nice cross, keep a tight rein on his diet.

Overfeeding is a common mistake of first time giant breed owners. Follow the guides on your preffered food. I recommend Royal Canin giant breed until 18 months, wont be cheap but will give your dog the best start in my experience. But whatever you choose to feed him, just dont overfeed, his joints will love you for it. Dysplasia of elbows and hips common in these crosses as the parents are usually from more working backgrounds with less strict attention to breeding out elbow/hip problems.

Is he going to be a social guy? if so get him off to a puppy school as soon as possible, avoid those public parks like the plague for now. Last thing he needs is a touch up by some poorly trained medium sized dog. Can install a lasting fear and therefore aggression towards other dogs.

Remember you will NOT be able to physically hold this guy if he wants something when he matures. So training training training now will pay off.

Nice dog, dark brindle face will give him a very foreboding look when he is older.Look forward to seeing his progress.
