something like this?...
Twas a birthday present from my brother and a friend of ours. Authentic (as you can get in the 21st century) and crafted from fine toledo steel.. I shudder at what it's retail value is...

Hey
Anyone here recommend what to use in the way of oiling the swords for long term storage or after you need to clean tree sap off them ? Thanks

The real sword of William Wallace, the leather part, was said to be made from human skin. |

I knew it was the 'Braveheart' which is classed as a Claymore except for the different hilt. A very nice sword that weighs a good few kilos I didn't want to know the price though dammit! I tried to ignore that bit.

Genisis, I just ran kendo+geelong and iaido+geelong through google but it didn't turn up anything useful. I though Deakin Uni might have kendo but I can't find any mention of Kendo or Iaido among their student clubs on the uni web site.
Your best hope would be to get in touch with the Melbourne Budokai and ask them if they know of anything in the Geelong area, or if they have members in Geelong who come to Melb for training which you could travel with. http://www.kendovictoria.asn.au/kenshikan/ they also have an email address, but I don't know how fast the response is to that. kenshikan@telstra.com |

Well, unless the laws in Qld are significantly different to Vic, try army disposal/camping type stores. Most of these types of stores that I'm familiar with in Melb have "decorator" swords (they look pretty, but that's all they're made for, as decoration objects).

Wall hangers / fantasy swords can by bought from CAS Iberia or from Museum Replicas I'm pretty sure, and their links should be a few pages back. The one benefit of buying a sword local is that you get to inspect it before buying it. For a practical sword that is worth a lot, but not entirely important for wall hangers since their structural integrity does not need to be up to scratch. Hope I've helped, and when I get time I'll try to put up some more links to on-line sword vendors. |

Be pleasant. Be polite. Be sensible. Do not carry it down the street, concealed or otherwise. Try not to kill any burglars with it unless you're absolutely sure they are pointing a gun at you. (Chances of getting off otherwise in NSW are slim.) There are not (to the best of my knowledge) any laws against owning a sword, unless you are under the age of sixteen (in which case most places will refuse to sell it to you now) or maybe eighteen. There are plenty of blanket laws against using them or possessing them in inappropriate circumstances.
