Question Question using S/PDIF into HiFi receiver

Hi Guys,

I sometimes have a problem where the audio cuts out whilst I'm watching a movie or tv show from my media pc (not always). reboot seems to be the only thing to fix it should the audio cut out.

The media pc audio is connected via single RCA lead to a sherwood RD-6502 receiver using S/PDIF out/in. I'm using a gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI and windows vista home premium and ffdshow.

If I try to plug in some headphones I don't hear video audio either, but if enter realtek sound setup and click on the speakers to test them... I hear that noise.
