Default The Aquarium Wiki

Hey Guys

http://www.overclockers.com.au/wiki/Aquariums

Spent the little time of lunch i had today making up the base wiki package. Would appreciate some help filling it out. Especially with any Fish species i left out, and i havent put in the different types of plants etc.

Lots of info to go in i know, but seems we got the good basis for a good community here. Lots of people full to the brim with knowledge

I just ask no vendor verdicts please, its not needed. Tho a good list of online stores and a basic description of what they sell and have to offer is good i think for any new people or finding out new places to buy from

Here it is, ive linked it off the front of the Wiki, feel free to chuck it in your sig too

Can u setup photo galleries? Havent used wiki much before.

Thanks heaps for whoever started the initial page before.

Cheers

Jack

Looks pretty good.

For the fish species, maybe you should break it up into classes like
Cyprinids
Anabantids
Etc

or Bottom Dwellers
Catfish

And then under that have a blurb with all the fish and from there you can have links to other pages about the specific type of fish.

The wiki looks good. I will have to go though all the stuff I have accumulated and start to add info.

Sweet guys

Thought it would be something we could make awesome, and really help each other along.

If anyone wants to mess around with the layout, feel free to do so. I just did the fish species off livefish list (been a shitfight of a work day)

SO if you wanna break it up a bit more. Im not very good with scientific names and all the rest so

If anyone wants to add me to msn please do so

mrcharisma01@hotmail.com

Most of all, enjoy!

When I get back from holidays I will add a few things and maybe (unless someone beats me to it) add a LFS bit divided into states. I have dealt with a few in Canberra and can point out strengths of each place. ie range of fish, plants, equipment, etc.

I will be back in the new years, I am not doing a wiki update from my phone.

Edit: just saw it has been done.

Have done a few updates, it's actually a good jog for your memory, though I find it hard not to write 'In my personal experiences blah blah"

Will get into it more over the next few days but we'll have to see.

Noticed there was nothing on goldfish yet.

We have just bought a house with an outdoor pond and there's two hardy little black fish there.

Do you think it would be ok to add about four comets or common goldfish ?

That's because goldfish are shocking fish to keep and too many parents buy there 8 year old a tank thats the size of a milk carton.

Yeah definitely - Although adding some shubunkins would be cooler - they look great & are strong hardy fish (like comets) and you could add some shubunkins and some comets together - I havent had problems with comets and shubunkins before (they are often kept together harmoniously).
Only thing to be careful of is overcrowding.
if it is only a very small pond you probably only want up to 2 of each.
Comets and shubunkins will easily grow up to 12 inches especially in a pond.
Have fun!

Added a few things. I hope the section on UGF's is not too disparaging - they are much cheaper and more effective forms of filtration now though. Will add some more if I have time
