Help! Beg/steal/borrow/buy Canon 30D/40D+ - Sydney

My Canon 30D that came back from repairs just a week ago has failed tonight (at a Christmas dinner no less).

I have a social event on the 30th that I desperately need a 30D/40D+ for, I'm willing to rent/borrow/buy a 2nd hand camera (body only).

I realise it's the holidays but I'm willing to drive anywhere and leave appropriate security.

I actually bought a 2nd hand camera off michael_ recently but just passed that onto unnersdown in Melbourne.

Looks like the same thing, ERR99 at first, now can lock up altogether - it will focus and meter a shot, but then nothing when the button is pressed.

Last time they fixed the unit's DC supply as it got to the stage where it wouldn't turn on, perhaps that was just the superficial problem and something with the internals needs looking at.

Know of any rental places open over the next few days?

Bummer! I'm feeling a little guilty now as I've just bought Heist's backup 30d! Unfortunately i'm shooting a wedding in Hobart on the 29th so can't get it back up to you in time.

All the best though. Hopefully someone else can help out!

Hey mate im going OS from the 29th dec to the 2nd of Feb. Not sure if im going to take my 1Dmk2n or not.

If your interested and willing to pay for the postage you can borrow it while im away if I decide not to take?

Im packing my bag tomorrow night of which I will then decided if im taking the 400D or the 1D

As said in the PM not sure what to get you to leave as collateral... probably wouldn't worry about it. You seem like a pretty trustworthy bloke. Kyl3 seems to trust you which is more than good enough for me.
