Default Is the NORAD website awesome?

Merry Boxing Day y'all,

http://www.norad.mil - North American Defence 50th Anniversary site.

Is this a good-looking website? I quite liked it. To me it shows strength and confidence. If you click "NORAD in a nutshell" there is a page with some eye-catching photos of aeroplane weapons and such.

What do you think?

-pcweirdo.

WOW COOL!!!

"NORAD 50th Anniversary logo - click to download hi-resolution version"

Just what I have always wanted

*tears run down my face*

Have they really spent so much on the war on terror that they have to use Frontpage '97 to design their website?

Dreamweaver is very capable in the right hands; I could do better with MS Paint

Wow... you've got to start wondering when the Norad site displays a 404 error (which it did just now).

So what do you recommend for a WYSIWYG HTML editor / website design program?

I recommend you learn how to use HTML and CSS. It's not that hard and it means you'll end up with a better result without having to spend a lot of money on tools to get the job done

I don't recommend any. I used to use Dreamweaver, and other worse ones like frontpage and visual studio.

Then i learned how to hand code HTML/CSS and can produce better results in a shorter time frame with less effort.

WYSIWYG editors are not always good.

+1 for hand coding the sites. Its easy to do and the result will always be superior (in terms of code quality).

I'm unlikely to ever really need or use HTML or CSS skills; our company site needed a refresh, so I drafted one for the boss to review in Dreamweaver ... took me a couple of hours, and most of that was fiddling with images and copying slabs of tesxt from the current site.

I'm not interested in investing the time to learn HTML or CSS because I'll almost never use either ... if I need a quick page designed / built, I'd prefer to go WYSIWYG; Dreamweaver or Word 2007 are my options at the moment, but if there is something better, I'm all ears.

Yep - though Dreamweaver is still pretty good when using the code view.

if you just need to do a little bit here and there that wysiwyg is the way to go. Out of Dreamweaver & Word 2007 i would recommend Dreamweaver just based on how badly word generates html.

if you want to try something different try microsofts expressions studio... its new and "supposed" to be able to product standards compliant code
