1. Leave the existing SCART to Composite (RYW) hooked up while changing the settings. It's the only way you can see the menu while you're changing the output settings.

2. Press "SETUP" on your remote.

3. Highlight "SYSTEM SETUP" by using the up and down arrows, then press select.

4. Highlight "SYSTEM SETTINGS", then press select.

5. Highlight "PICTURE SETTINGS", then press select.

6. Highlight "VIDEO OUTPUT" then press select.

7. Highlight "YUV" (this is the other name for component), then press select.

8. Change the cable over to the SCART to Component and enjoy!
Cheers man that makes sense. You gotta do the same thing for dvd players, I didn't think of it. I'm quite annoyed now actually since i called Foxtel support too asking if there was any quirks or things I had to do with the foxtel box.

Plug cables into the RCA audio connectors or some digital connection (coax/optical). Audio isn't transmitted across that connection

(BTW we have Optus Cable TV, not FOXTEL, will the cable still work?)

Hi guys we bought the foxtel component + composite cable today (the $70 from Dick Smith) and tried to plug it in.

It doesn't work, the TV turns on but the OPTUS box doesn't seem to turn on anymore. Help please! =(

Above problem is fixed. =)

Now we have a 'kind of problem'...the component cables seem to make ABSOLUTELY NO difference over composite when showing the optus cable channels....is that normal?

(Also, is all optus cable/foxtel broadcasted in 576i?)

If you were using composite cables (red white yellow) to send component signals (ie all 3 plugged in) there would be little difference to swapping to component cables, the cables are basically the same except for the colours on the ends. If you are using the component cables to send the composite signal (video is just the yellow plug, the red and white are audio) it will also be the same. It is the different signal that is better, not the cables themselves (hopefully).

You should have the red, green blue outputs from the cable box plugged into the same colour component cables, then plugged into the same colour inputs on the TV.

Do you have a digital box or analogue box? It could be the poor quality of the analogue broadcast that is showing up now.

I'm plugging the composite cables into the composite slots and component into component slots, and seeing no difference.

We have a digital box, although, is there any difference between digital and analogue?
