Default AYHJAR TBirds !!!!!!!!

What sort of fan were they using to overclock it? I will certainly be getting one of these in about 4 weeks, and i want to make sure i have the right setup.

I have the Asus a7v-c with a Superorb, what do you guys think i will be able to get a 1ghz model going at using that?

So far i have only heard of these coming out in 1.0Ghz... Are there any 1.2, 1.33 or 1.4Ghz chips with AYHJAR stepping??

(sorry for partial hijack :P)

there should be, i think the reason they use 1 ghz to overclock as for the same stepping but different speed all usually peak around the same speed,

Default Clock Speeds

This is a question that i sorta know the answer to, but i would like to hear the answer from other people.

If the AYHJAR Tbirds can overclock so well, why dont AMD just crank them up and make them 1.5ghz models by default? Why have a 1ghz model that can do sooo much more? Also, anyone got a link to a site that tells you how CPU's are made?

Thanks.

The thunderbird core is not going any higher than 1.4GHz.
Sometime soon (i was expecting it this month) the 1.5GHz desktop Athlon 4 (Palomino) should be released, which will go up to 1.6GHz before the year is out.

I have some very serious doubts about this stepping, especially given the AthlonOC article, in which they supposedly tested 75 CPUs with no specifics whatsoever - they also refuse to answer questions in their forums, and have been practicing post deletion. Their affiliation with OCZ makes it all the more dubious.

Infact, the only answer they gave in their forums was in regard to a single CPU which managed to hit 1.65GHz.

i guess its a case of buyer beware.. If youre going to rush out and buy one, keep in mind that 1.6GHz is a big ask, and dont be too dissapointed if your cpu doesnt go that far.

Well Said. I believe that the chips overclock better than previously released athlon chips however as stated above, id wait till furthur evidence before rushing out and buying one.

Quite simply, because there is a market still for 1GHz chips - a much bigger market (due to the lower price) than there is for 1.4GHz chips - AMD are better to sell the processors as 1GHz parts, and make a small profit, than have them sit on the shelves, where they make AMD no profit at all.

they do exist, i got a 1.33 ahjia running @ 1.656 with 2.05 vcore by slapping a screaming thermoegine on it, any higher and she craps out on me, im not sure if its my board or chip (my bets are on the chip) but it does it with ease and is rock solid...with the thermoengine+7k combo i get idle temps of 37 c and full load temps of 45-46 with a room temp of 20-22 c ....they do exist .

one very happy camper
