Default mobo header for front audio

my mobo supports both HD Audio and AC'97 audio
and the lead from the front panel has both connectors (they're the same, but the ac'97 cable splits off the HD audio)

i cant seem to find anything else here saying which is best, but ive plugged in the HD Audio connection.

is this the best one, sound quality wise?
