never really considered it, they move a heap load of air when they are set to auto temp. So im guessing the stock ones are pretty good?
Just prefer something rather then stock

I think being a shuttle, the biggest obstacle would be space. If you can find an after market cooler with the right mounting holes it may not fit.
Best best is to change fans or add a few more. Possibly low rpm ones

maybe a small watercooling mod would be handy, but again defeats the purpose of being a shuttle PC even a zalman cooler or something would be good lol nagh i wont i think how much i love watercooling things, a shuttle i wouldnt, unless it was a C2D or 939 shuttle....but defeats the purpose of a owning a shuttke...

You'd have to measure up the mounting holes and see if you can compare it to something on the market, but i had a look at some photos of the current cooler that comes with the case...hard to find something that compact.

From all the stuff I've read while investigating buying a Shuttle, no you can't as they're proprietary holes

in the older models, eg. shuttle X, they have their proprietary ICE cooling heatsink with a standard 80mm fan. The fan is interchangeable with any other 80mm fan with 3 pin mobo connector. Hence, find a 80mm fan with 'bearable' sound/decibals (related to rpm) with a high CFM (cubic feet per minute)

I have no doubt the fan could be changed to "more enthusiast friendly" brand.

Can't remember where I read it but apparently the Shuttle heatpipe arrangement is pretty good to start with. I'm wondering with what you're running whether the current air exits are sufficient.
If you place an aftermarket cooler/fan inside your Shuttle is the hot air removed from the CPU going to be able to escape/be extracted fast enough? I haven't visited for a while but there used to be a heap of info on the www.sudhian.com/ forums. |
