Turkish bread with balsamic vinegar and dukka (sesame seed spice mix)
  • get a long turkish bread.
  • cut into 1.5 cm wide strips
  • put on tray and spray lightly with olive oil spray
  • lightly salt the bread
  • put in oven for 5mins at 200c
  • turn over bread strips, repeat oil + salting
  • eat, by dipping in good balsamic vinegar, olive oil and dukka and then putting it into your mouth

utterly delicious. We do it often intending it to be a snack before dinner....then find it so good we cook more and just eat that

Mum brought home boring vanilla icecream, so I spent a little time making a smoothie.

1 cup blueberries
2 chopped bananas
1 cup milk
tsp honey
ice cubes
2 scoops ice cream

Blended the lot.

It's great to see that it's actually turned into a sticky; or at least I thought it was a normal thread before.

Lol. Kinda reminds me of the best quick drink if you are in a hurry, normal coffee and put quite a bit of salt in after you add the sugar. Really peps you up in the morning.

Mix up parmesan cheese (the powdered kind) with butter and slather heavily on bread, pop it under the griller for a few minutes till it's brown and irresistible. It's the closest thing I can find to Sizzler toast

thats really close

the way they do it is to take margarine and whip it with a mixer (similar to what you would use for cream/egg whites) till light and fluffy. mix in the parmesan cheese.

coat the bread with the mix and then fry on a flat grill or frying pan.

The Sizzlers I worked at a few years ago certainly didn't make it's own bread, they just had boxes of it delivered and stored in the cold room untill it was ready to be chucked on the hot plate. I don't know who makes it initially.

You can actually buy the exact same thing as Sizzlers bread at Woolworths. It's called pan bread and is in a green packet with about 6 slices for about $5. Just chuck it in the grill for 10 mins, and it's just like being there

My favorite quick meal is

2 med potatoes
grated cheese
tin of baked beans

Microwave potatoes for 10mins, or until cooked
Put in a bowl
Cut open potatoes
Put baked beans on top
Put cheese on top of that, with salt and pepper
Oven the lot until cheese is melted and brown.

Eat

A nice variation is to add chilli sauce with the baked beans prior to ovening for a spicy twist.

Reallllllly nice olive oil (ie, not from woolies)
Italian bread

Dip bread in olive oil... om nom nom nom.

Goes really well with a touch of basalmic vinegar and a little bit of seasalt.

Another 2 things I like to eat are marinated carrots (in olive oil and all sorts of stuff) and marinated grilled sliced eggplant. (marinated in all sorts, olive oil & chilli) They're absolutely awesome to snack on and I can't help myself once I start... I'll post recipes when my italian mate comes round and makes it for us again.

My Extension on this is to add Beans and Sambol Olek (ground chili paste)

The best is when you have some mince left over from last nights Tacos.
