Moral of the story is Dogs get skin cancers too... so becareful of them in the sun... (hopefully this isnt)

keep it covered as the last thing u want a dog doing is licking the wound raw... its amazing how many ppl believe old wives tails... u would also be amazed of the manky bugs that can live in a dogs mouth... if we took a swab and grew them up u would be horrified....

hope yr hounds all better soon....

My dog has just died. I think it was to dowith the therapy in the end as his white blood cell count plummeted and did not recover. His lower back was covered with the wounds and it got to a point where we decided we had to treat him as they were getting that bad. I hope for your dog's sake and your own sake that it isn't anything as serious as my little jack russel. I don't mean to scare you or anything, as the vet seemed to think that the reaction to the therapy and the disease itself were very, very rare. Best wishes from my end.

I'm a 5th (final) year vet student.

We've done all the theory, all there is to go is rotations and that is it

So sorry about your loss Zoogwah. Luckily, the wound has now turned into a scab. It's gone from a 10c gaping hole to about 1/2 of a 5c coin. I just gotta keep the flies off it, especially when he rips the bandages off. I will definitely keep an eye out for more sores on his body. Fingers crossed that is a one off.

hehe real doctors treat more than one species

And i'm only joking, vets just have to say that to ourselves to justify the 5yr degree and shitty pay. we don't get to sit on our asses listening to humans whine about their "emotions" and dole out some psychoactive drugs and get paid $60 for 15 minutes of work. Yeh I'm a bit jaded. Being a vet requires so much from us, we are required to be the pathologist, the surgeon, the dermatologist, the neonatal medicine specialist, the ophthalmologist, the anaesthetist, the emergency medicine specialist as well as being just a "general practitioner", take a lot of shit from humans who don't wanna pay to get their beloved pet fixed, and get paid a pittance regardless of all our hard work. But we do it for the sake of the animals!

Just don't give them ibuprofen. Or aspirin. Or paracetomol. EVER.

Glad to hear your dog is doing better Sormuijai. My dog is back to her normal crazy self after the snake bite.
