Hm, anyone know of a good film camera repairer in Adelaide?
This Canonet is slightly beyond me. If i cant find one here i reckon ill have to take it to either Michaels or the otehr camera place up the road from it.

Yeah, but the wire isnt tinning properly, so it will need a new wire, and it runs through the guts of the thing to the rangefinder sensor board which is deep in the guts of the unit...

Yeah, tempted to. Been reading stuff from there, some people are saying that you dont need to pull the lens and everything off to replace the wire.
Edit: Duh, i really should have thoguht about using conductive epoxy.

Hells yeah, i've been waiting to see pics of this beast.
You've now made it very hard to resist getting that 124 i was telling you about the other day. I know you like the silver/chrome in the non "G" model, but im a big fan of the black on black colour scheme of the G.

![]() nah it's not new. they were made between 1971 to 1986 from memory. this was the end of a very long yashica tlr production line. they sell on ebay around $150 for a nice one up to $400 for some of the rarer models. i paid $220 pp. im not really fussed about the mint condition thing but i knew that if the body is mint then so is the lens so i spent a bit extra. i really wanted the 124 non-g model as onrelas mentioned. check this out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/89029424@N00/2222964653 it looks so hot with the chrome bits. the 124g has the very same metal parts but blacked out. i just love the retro look of the other one. from what i have read the 124 is a higher quality model. reason being... they are the exact same camera made by the exact same machine/tools right. so if you can imagine at the end of the machine life they have loosed up and worn out certain precision processes and thus the later models were not as high quality. yashica was apparently still selling these cameras in 1986 but the machines got too expensive to maintain so they stopped production. i don't believe this was the whole story of why they stopped production but it makes sense to a degree. in any case, i think that's a nice little myth that's been floating around the net but it must have some element of truth in it. |

They're reported to have incredibly sharp lenses. I would love to have a play with one, but unless I suddenly win lotto I couldn't really justify the cost. If you can get one, go for it, they look like a heap of fun.
