I love them, but then again, I grew up using my parents AE-1. I still love the quality of photos this thing takes.

Dad picked up a HP Scanner recently that came with a negative and slide attachment.. We popped in a slide taken 30+ years ago in europe and were able to read the license plate off a tiny fiat which appeared on the side of the photo.. for something that didn't seem like a professional product, it did a damn fine job

Gear I own:
- 6x6 - Yashica LM TLR
- 35mm - Canon FTB, Canonet QL 19 (Both just with standard lenses)
- Plus some other super old bits lying around like Kodak Autographics etc.
- LPL 6600 Condenser Enlarger with 50mm and lots of other darkroom bits n pieces.

Film I Shoot in rough order of frequency:
- Kodak Tmax100/400
- Fuji Provia 100f
- Ilford HP5+
- Fuji Velvia 100
- Ilford Delta

I shoot 4x5" film whenever I can (Provia & HP5+), 120 most commonly and 35mm on the odd occasion.

Gear I use from uni that I don't own:
- Cambo Legend 4x5" View Camera with loads of lenses 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 300.
- Rollei 6003/6008 with 50, 80 or 150.
- Beast of a 4x5" condenser enlarger with a sweet Rodenstock lens.
- Epson V700 Flatbed Scanner.

Just thought I'd mention them cos I shoot film often, but couldn't get all the results without those tools. I'm a student, I'm broke. lol.

Also with people talking about flatbed scanners. I'm sure I've used that Epson 4490 before and Canon's equivalent. I thought they both did a good job. Epson tend to be the best and I found their software easier. I've used a lot of bad scanning software and a lot of volatile scanners. I personally prefer Epson's latest software to that of Canon's and any other like Silverfast. It's hard for me to compare the 4490 to the V700 cos I hardly remember the former, so I'll have to try it again and compare. Cos that's a good price! Their higher models definitely have a much greater density range. The 4490 quotes a Dmax of 3.4, whereas the V700 claims 4. The manufacturers are great at fudging or exaggerating their figures, but 0.6 difference in their figures is a considerable amount as its logarithmic. I think it would do a reasonable job, certainly of negative film, but the higher models can really get some great results with slide, and I wonder if the 4490 falls short by much. It's important to note that unless you're scanning them to massive sizes to print huge, this isn't going to have anywhere near as much impact.

After I got my AE-1 my dad told me he has one(which is missing) he was telling me how one his lenses was a 35-70mm which had auto-focus built which required its own battery, i wonder how many of these are still around.

I've never found focusing a problem with the AE-1, the split display line seems to work really well to this day..

I just received a new toy today. I bought an OM2 in "non working" condition for a very cheap price. The thing is, it only took me literally 3 seconds to get working again
So i now have a really nice OM2 to add to my collection. I thought about selling it and making a little profit, but im going to keep it as its in really good condition. The only thing is the camera "leather" is peeling off at soem corners. I think i'll replace it with some crazy colour for a bit of fun.
Here's a quick picture of it below

i was looking on ebay a few days ago and some one was selling a fd lens (can't remember which) and he posted pictures of it and it had the exact same green squared background.

i was just wondering how much it sold for as I have a FD 100-200 F5.6 and wondering how much its worth?

no worries but.

You're looking at about 80 to 100 bucks. Not a great amount of money.

For those of you in Sydney, theres a small Camera Market on until 3pm today at the Ultimo Community Centre.
There seems to of been pretty much no advertising for the event. I only heard about it this morning and just got back from there a few minutes ago so thought i'd post some info up here (i wasnt near a computer when i heard about it).
It's pretty much 99% film gear. Mostly older stuff, but a few pretty recent bits and pieces too.
Alot of the SLR's seemed pretty much top market price, but the stuff that seemed cheap were rangefinders and polaroid cameras. Alot of filters and acessories also too.
If you're in the area, it might be worth checking out. Costs $2 to get in, but its fun just looking at the cameras anyway.

I picked up this beast for $5, and it appears to be in great condition. Lens is perfect and cosmetically its almost pristine. I dont know much about these models, so will have to do a bit of research then give it a proper clean. The f/1.7 lens is damn nice though

**gm:fx, theres a nice Olympus SP there with your name on it! If i didnt already buy mine a couple weeks ago i would of probably got it.
