- Return of general power type abilities
- Simplistic economy means more focusing on battle rather then harvesting
- Co-op play is a lot of fun

The Premier Edition (AKA Collector's Edition) of the game is atleast better then the C&C3 Kane Edition but still falls short of other CE games I own mainly Blizzard's. It's about the same size as a regular game case but atleast it's tin. Has a whole bunch of CD's in there that I've yet to have a look at.

As for the game like I've said above I've been playing co op witha room mate and we're having an absolute blast playing on medium difficulty and halfway through sov campaign.
i thought i saw you online last night

yeah there's not much content in those "bonus" dvd's though. few minutes of video at best, and most of them are accessible on the official site.

Anyone care to share a save game file to get past that one bit?

I can play other campaigns fine.
At least you can beat that level, the CO-OP guy is so fucking usless, fuck I hate this 'feature' wish you could play by your fucking self.

But I can't play anymore soviet levels as I can't load/get past that bit
It's only the 6th level into the Soviet campaign too

Many of the units have craptastic abilities (transports generally have some kind of wanky unload ability which is useless 99% of the time), or they have just mashed two useful units together (the soviet conscript is basic infantry and a grenadier)

was looking forward to this but after reading some reviews and player comments ill give it a miss, just like every other c&c game since TibSun (the last one i bought)

besides i think many players have "grown up" in their RTS tastes since RA1/2, i loved RA1 but when it started getting old rushing soviet heavytanks i found total annihilation.. shat all over RA and dark reign at the time and is only matched to this day, imho, by supcom and the totalwar series..

and this game, and the comments/reviews ive seen for farcry2, have confirmed its best to avoid EA games despite the "blockbuster" titles theyve aquired.. theyve turned them to shit.
dont have high hopes for the next iD software game either since they defected from activision, tho quake4, quakewars and doom3 all sucked ass regardless..

ill save my RTS moneys for empire total war i think..

tank rushing is fine. btw, mammoth tanks would not be rushing...

ra1 and ra2 were fine, i loved them, because the economy meant that you would be rushing with small(er) numbers of units. cnc3 is just ridiculous on the other hand, since it seems to be more about building heaps of harvesters, then going on to spam ridiculous numbers of units. (a simplification, but there is some truth there). this is aided by the lower costs of harvesters and refineries relative to units. Fortunately the latest patch has alleviated this problem.

if you did the heaps of harvesters thing in ra1 or 2 you were guaranteed a very quick loss.

yeah, cnc3 was all about spam. 1.04 it was scorpion tank spam. 1.05 was pitbull spam. 1.06 was seeker spam. they eventually fixed the economy in 1.09 by increasing refinery/harvester costs so spam was somewhat slowed down, but that just lead to ecoboom.

i like the micro-intensive nature of ra3. you can't mindlessly spam units in the beginning, you have to control your units much more effectively. in the later game however once you expand and have maybe 3/4 refineries, unit production is much faster but then it becomes more hectic to micromanage every unit you've produced however. but 1-unit spam doesn't win anymore, they're easily countered and you need to mix units to win.

lol, and apparently the online stats are fucked. apparently if you quit before the opponent is finished off, then the match is void. pathetic...

Agreed.

C&C 1 was about tank rush

C&C Tiberium Sun was about tank rush / mech rush / engineer rush

RA 1 was about tank rush

RA 2 was about tank rush + chrono commanders / tanya to sneak in via the back...

C&C 3 was tank rush

C&C 3 Kanes Wrath was tank rush

Surprise surprise, RA 3 is going to be tank rush.... but gimped by limited harvesters!
Naval battle is meant to be epic in RA 3? Havent tried yet. Havent played a boat rush since Cavedog's Total Annihilation.

There were games like Rise of Nations and Empire Earth which featured boat rush, but nothing as epic as Total Annihilation - the same designers that brought us Supreme Commander.

Best RTS I've ever played is Battle for Middle Earth 2. Great game. Ignore the ghey expansion pack and EA made patches.

Supreme commander was balls comparatively.

Total annihilation with TAUCP (Total annihilation units compilation pack) and Core Contingency was the most magnificent game ever.
Unit variety, masses of units, and the most EPIC naval battles I've ever seen. (Think ballistic missiles + planes flying everywhere + submarine flanking + Giant battlecruisers firing broadsides)

Anyway, on RA3: Trademark buggy-as-shit gameplay. Once again, CNC3 style. >_> pisses me off. I'm honestly liking the soundtrack and what gameplay I can enjoy though. Oh, and I reinstalled RA2 again.
