Default $1500 13"/14"/15" options?

Hey, for music, some movies, net browsing, office apps, what are my best options for a 13/14/15" laptop for ~$1500?

I was thinking Dell, as they seem to have a decent range. Are there any specific deals I should be watching atm or in the near future?

Thanks.

the 1420 inspiron is fantastic, going for between $1000 - $1500 depending on what extras you want.

there arent too many good deals for the 1420 but i would keep an eye out for the 20% off warranty as it's the best available that i've seen

I built onto the 1420 a little by upping the cpu to 2ghz, screen to the 1400x900 one, and wireless to agn (instead of ag).

This brings it to $1564

Is postage free? Is there anything else I should add to that?

postage is included into the price, for RAM i'd upgrade it yourself to save alot of money, wouldnt bother with the agn card as it's only draft N and you need an N router to use N (which is expensive) and the screen i'd go default (no truelife crap) unless you like looking at a mirror while you type. Also i wouldnt bother going more than 2yrs warranty for what your paying for the laptop

My setup cost me $1400 exact and it's great

Also make sure you choose the cheapest option build to start off with as it gives the most flexibility

Ok, so $1313 gets me:

2ghz C2D
Vista Home Premium (or is basic fine?)
14.1" normal display
2gb ram
160gb hdd
intel x3100 gfx
normal wifi

If I got the 9cell battery for $50 more, would it stick out the back of the laptop? Or is it the same size as the 6 cell?

Other than that, looks ok?

I'm pretty sure it sticks out. (if it's anything like the M1330)

looks fine so far, vista premium is better than basic so i'd spend extra for that, 2gb ram only get if it doesnt cost you any extra, otherwise i'd recommend just getting the 1gb which is what i got and buying 2x2gb yourself and putting it in (much much better in vista)

Yes the 9cell does stick out, also be warned if you want to get abit extra gfx power and get the 8400 you also are required to spend the extra on the 90W power adapter.

so far it looks great though

Dont forget if you are an NRMA member you get a discount of 5%
