Default Alternate parts for this Instructable

Hi all,

Could someone please suggest some parts that are available from Jaycar/DSE/Altronics (or at worst, RS Components) for this instrucable?

http://www.instructables.com/id/RGB-...%2b-Spot-/

- 3 x Q1: small NPN transistors (digikey: 2N5088BU) EDIT: Ok, futurelec have these.
- 3 x VREG: adjustable voltage regulators (digikey: LD1585CV or LM1084IT-ADJ)

- 3 x control knobs: 2k-ohm to 10k-ohm linear-taper potentiometers (see following steps) - found these at RS components (Tandem Slide Potentiometers)

I think I should be able to find these:

- 3 x R3: 2-watt resistors (see following steps)
- 3 x R1, 3 x R2: resistors (see following steps)
- 4 x C1: 47uF 35V capacitors (digikey: ECA-1VHG470)
- Red, Green and Blue High-power LED's- anyone know a cheap source for Luxeons?
- 8-position terminal block: digikey: 39100-0808

Cheers!

PN100 transistors from Jaycar will be fine.
Part number ZT-2283 @ $0.25 each.
You could try LM338K for the regulator although it is a different case type.
Part number ZV-1630 @ $14.00 each.

Thanks!

I guess I can save money by getting a lower-rated regulator than the LM338K - ie. the LM317T or the 350? I don't need 5A per channel as I'm not going to be using more than one or two LEDs per channel.

EDIT: Wow, I didn't really realise how simple this circuit is. http://www.instructables.com/files/d...8K4.MEDIUM.jpg
I've made these before...
