Default Linux users post your desktop!

Having been using Compiz Fusion for a few days with its little extras (Avant Window Navigator), I'm curious to see how other OCAUers keep their FOSS desktops!

So, post them up guys!

Here's mine:

Desktop screen

Laptop Screen

I couldn't scale them too much, cause otherwise they wouldn't look nearly as good.

Laptop res:1280x800
Desktop res: 2560x1024

I'm going to be a bit cheeky here. On my corporate laptop Linux is not allowed, and the SOE is Windows XP. However I can run andLinux which is a complete Ubuntu installation running parallel to Windows. It doesn't get cool things like Compiz but it does give me a real shell and my xfce start bar up the top.

Additionally OpenOffice and Pidgin run faster under andLinux than under XP. PulseAudio also works well so I can use pretty much any linux audio application I like.

Heh. I started a new job 2 weeks ago. I walked in and said "I'm putting Linux on my laptop". By boss blathered on about their SOE and how it wasn't allowed and how it was against policy for about 15 minutes. I said nothing, and just stared at him in silence. When he finished, I told him to choose between me or the SOE.

This post is being brought to you from my work laptop running Ubuntu Linux 7.10.

The desktop? Boring old defaults that I won't bother posting here. I spend 99.9% of my day in a terminal window, and honestly the window dressings and whatnot are the last thing on my mind. Even my home machines have very little customisation or decoration. I've always been a "function over form" kind of person, and pretty themes and backdrops have never concerned me.

What should the boss care what OS you run. As long as you're getting the job done, that's all that should matter. And if changing OS from what they provide boosts your productivity, then go for it I say.

You will be wanting to direct your Interweb-Thingy-Looking-Device over to CGWallpapers.com, it's somewhere in there, or you can go to the artist's personal site as well.

Alternatively, grab it here, because I can't find the exact link where I originally got it from again:
