Great timing |AXiN| Nice contrast to the post above you,

I'm using the default KDE 4.1 wallpaper, I really like it.

Just out of interest, what themes are you using? Might prove handy to disguise my desktop at work...

I hope you don't mean to disguise your Ubuntu desktop HyRax1? Why would you want to disguise it? Show it off in all it's naked glory! And then when the co-workers come over to see what the cool OS you're running is, hand them out a Ubuntu install disc and a free sticker!

If I can disguise it, then I won't have to worry about the IT heads badgering me as much, since judgement is only skin-deep - as it turns out, Lotus Notes runs notably quicker under Wine than it does natively under Windows - a boon for me, but while my boss isn't too fussed about me running Linux as long as I get the job done, I won't get the same sympathy from the IT heads everytime they stick their head in - they'll kick up a fuss about Microsoft revoking the site licence or some such crap.

Already done. I've handed out about 10 discs already! As usual, the Compiz eye-candy sells it the most when I demo on my EeePC, or on the dual 22"'ers. The deal is sealed when I show them that Citrix and Windows Domain access really does work quite well under Linux.

And just to stay on-topic, here's my current EeePC desktop:

Yes, it's custom, but it's KDE, not GNOME - I run Kubuntu, hence the little Kubuntu icon on the far left there.

And a very nice default desktop it is too. Though I'd argue it looks even better if you change all the proportional fonts to "UnDotum" rather than go with the default "Sans". Much cleaner.

Have you tried out Gnome Commander? Looks and feels very much like Directory Opus 4.x on the Amiga.

Thanks HyRax1, I'll have a look at that font. Cheers.

I tried Gnome Commander once and I didn't like it. It didn't offer me anything new that I required. And the GUI just seemed overkill for a simple console based file management app. Long live MC.

Update: I checked out the UnDotum font. I actually didn't like it. It reminded me of Fedora Core or Windows or something, I dunno. It just didn't grab me.

Xubuntu 8.04 with the EeePC custom kernel by adamm (from eeeuser), total install is just over 1.0G (not including /home )

Using jini Blue Sky icons from Gnome-Look, XFWM is Elfin from XFCE-Look and GTK2.0 is Elegant Dark Blue from Gnome-Look. Wallpaper is from Pixel Girl Presents.

I have always been a KDE man but with KDE 4.0 a little shonky I am thinking of moving back from kubuntu to ubuntu. Can anyone here tell me how to get the quick launch bar down the bottom in Gnome. You can see an example here

To get an idea of what I mean.

Thanks
