I'd get the Dell. More RAM, a significantly faster CPU, 64-bit support, and it's also the cheapest.

Dell Vostro 1400 with Windows XP Pro for $1150

Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T7250/3 GIG RAM/120 GIG/14.1"/X3100

*** Solid design, good support, faster CPU, the cache is larger and the L2 Cache Speed is faster.

Hey guys I'm in a similar situation to all of you (except that its for a female friend). I recommended her the Vostro but she doesn't dig the look so its either tossing up between the M1330 or the Sony C-Series laptops (www.laptop.com.au) for around 1200-1500. Are there any others anyone can recommend?
