How does 1066mhz ram work on boards that only support up to 800mhz? I have 2 sticks of PC2 8500 ram..does my Abit IP35pro hold this ram back.. or what?
cheers

1066mhz RAM is backwards compatible with speeds lower than that, so if needed; it'll run at 800mhz no problems.
Judging by your sig, your running a q6600 at 3.6ghz...which at 1:1 would need 800mhz (400fsb x 9) - so in this case its fine. But generally though, unless your overclocking; chances are you wouldn't even need the 800mhz your motherboard supports. If you didn't have your Q6600 overclocked, it'd still be running at 2.4ghz (266fsb x 9 - assuming 1:1) so your ram would only be at 533mhz...regardless of the advertised 1066mhz speed. It's a different story if you decide to use different multipliers/ratios though, but 1:1 you'd be fine.
