digitalvoodoo: I want that LP. I must have that LP

Here are my guitars and amp. I've just moved everything from another room so my cables arn't all that neat.

VOX AD100VT, with footswitch, random powerboard, crappy bass amp, crappy guitar practise amp, music stand + cables.

From left to right. Strat knockoff, Tele I made, LP I made, Yamaha clasical, Cort Electroacoustic.

It's cheap and it does the job.

A real budget would be nice, lol. How much are you willing to spend in total?

Maybe no more than $700. Think I could get a decent one at that price?

If you can push your budget up another $100 that would be great. you could grab a Schecter Omen 7. Scheter make some pretty decent entry level guitars.
Because seven string guitars aren't that normal they usually cost more than their 6 string counterparts. You'll get the same quality but pay more just for that low B string.

http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/ele...ter/id=32.html schecter.

http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/ele...cter/index.htm Look for the omen-7. Its near the top

Nice! Thank you very much, very appreciated. Know much about amps? As you can see I'm still using a 15Watt. 4 years on.

I know lots about amps. Give me a style and a budget and i'll help you out.

Generally you want to spend more on your amp than your guitar. Amps make up for around %70 of your tone so it only makes sense so spend more on it.

Let's say $700-1000 then. Like the above. Nice distortion, overdrive, clean. But it's not like I need something professional. Just to jam with friends. Even anything in the lower price field would be good. Something basic!

Uhm, the Peavey Bandit is one of the better solid state amps for under $1000. You can usually pick one up for around 600-700 dollars. If you go used you can end up getting an amp thats worth around $1500.

a Roland Cube 60 will be a bit more versatile, around the same price and give you some effects to work with. I noticed you have that multi effects pedal, because of that I'll probably recommend using the Peavey Bandit for your distortion / cleans and only use your pedal for effects, no distortion.

If you do look used look for a Randall RG50TC. A nice high gain tube combo. 50 watts tube is LOUD as well. Good luck finding one though, generally people don't like selling good amps here in Aus.

Stay away from the line 6 spider series and the Marshall MG / AVT series. From my experience you can ALWAYS find a better amp for the price. the MG series sounds thin and brittle, regardless of the model. the AVT series is the same except it has one tube in it which does nothing for the amp except up the price a few hundred. The spider series sounds so digitally processed and fake its just unbearable.

edit:
If your willing to go the full $1000 try for a Peavey Valveking. it wont get as 'brootal' distortion as the bandit, but it sounds better than the bandit. You can get a nice cheap overdrive pedal to push the tubes a bit and saturate more, but you only start getting decent overdrive pedals at the $100 mark. Overall the valveking has a much higher room for improvement. A speaker change and a tube change to some nice tubes make this amp sound so much better than stock. Of course it will cost you more in the long run.
