Default Windows SMP V6.22 Install Guide (editing it now... hold on)

All this has been pretty much deprecated by the new clients.... please see the new mega-massive client setup guide sticky thing.

Nice post Mitsi. This should help a lot of peope out.
I've swapped over one of my machines, but not the other. I just need to get in and change it.

Hope you got some sleep

Thanks guys.

I have no issues with people running dual instances on this new client at all. It is very, very stable.

I did get one FILE_IO_ERROR as I was starting up for the first time, but that was firewall exceptions related.

Those people who have masses of C2D's awaiting a stable client - the time to swap them over to this new MPI library and the SMP client is right now.

Let's lift our output, get us over 1 Million ppd and lets give the [S]oft types a bit of a scare.

Well there's not too many others with "masses of C2D's"!

It'd be a heck of a boost in points though...

You are a lucky guy..... I have a feeling that heavily OC'd machines have more problems than mildly OC'ed machines.

Different MPI library - MPICH2 has been swapped for DeinoMPI. The FahCore_A1.exe is also slightly different.

The new client has less output due to a different library. If you have no problems the old adage applies - 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'

Yes, I had the latex one in mind. There are a few others that had 10-20 office/school machines and would install it as a service if the client was stable.

Just a heads up on my installs. Has anyone else seen this issue.

I have 2 Q6600 running the new clients. When i reset a wired switch in my network to clear a prob , i found that the 4 instances on the Quads on that switch immediately reset themselves.

Each instance restarted & as far as i can tell no work was lost.
It was a bit hard to tell because 2 instances were just starting up & on 0% but the other 2 instances recovered ok

Another Quad on that switch running Ubuntu never had any issues.

Go Figure.

Well I tried to install tonite & it refused to start...
