I've just put in my churn application from TPG(ugh) to aaNet. I hope to be with them by next Wed.
Is anybody on the aaNet ADSL1 1500-M3 40gb plan? Any issues? I probably should have taken the 'reduce contract to zero' option, but I'm too cheap to pay the extra once off fee of $50. ![]() Also, there wasn't a plan length option on the sign up page. I assume that it's a generic 12 month plan. Does anybody know if this is the case? I might give them a call about it but I'm at work at the moment. |

I was with them for a while (about 12 months), but they just upped their prices so I just churned to Exetel. ($65 - 8mb, 8gb peak, 48gb off peak)
I had heaps of issues with them at the start (dropping out etc), but I replaced by DLink router with a Billion and it's been fine since. I was on the $99 - 8mb, 48gb plan (now gone). I paid the once off fee, but was with them for a year so in the end, it was a waste. |

The plan I'll be on is the 1500-M3 40GBplan. Offpeak times are 1am - 9am. Offpeak % Counted is 33%. It's $79.90/mo. Much better than what I have with TPG.TPG is currently charging me $79.00 for a 512 connection. It's unlimited but I rarely go above 40gb per month anyway. Also, customer service is horrible, and the connection goes down quite often. |

Been with them for about a year now, you can pay an extra $50.00 and not be on contract so that you can leave whenever you like, their ADSL service is great, rarely drops out but their email is disgraceful at the moment, emails take about 8 hrs to get delievered, they say they are in the process of building a new email cluster server but they have been saying that for a few months now so wait and see on that one.....overall pretty good value except the email
Cheers Z

i've been know to chuck an isp due to pricing over the last few years... but i've now been with aanet for 2+ years, they are not necessarily the dirt cheapest, they provide a bit of support over email.
To me they are cheap, reliable and not some bottom of the rung isp who will go broke anytime soon. Can't say i've had any real dramas with them. 8Mbit 64GB plan here

When I drop out, I usually call TPG. I get a recorded message saying that they are currently having issues. 90% of the time, it was them.

I've been with aaNet since they were DataCo. Since EFTEL took over, they've been a totally different ISP. Constant dropouts (without explanation), email system with 24-48 delay on new mail, randomly increasing the price as they feel like it. I've just put in my application to churn to another provider!
48 hour delay on emails is not acceptable, and with an answer like 'emails were never meant to be instant' from the aaNet support team I won't be recommending them again. My plan has been terminated 3 times, and I've been forced to downgrade or move back up to the same plan only more expensive each time. Emails like "The constantly evolving nature of the telecommunications industry brings both opportunities and changes every year. At aaNet we are striving always to find ways to deliver a better service whilst keeping a lid on costs for you. As you might have noticed, prices for many items have been rising lately. Broadband Internet is no exception. aaNet is not able to avoid this challenge, but we have tried to keep cost increases to a minimum. The following information relates to your own broadband service and some options for you to maximise the value of your relationship with aaNet.", while competition ISP's are doing the opposite. /rant

I've been using aaNet for about three years, on my third connection (three different premises), and have four family and friends on aaNet as well.
apart from some dodgy e-mail problems some time ago when Lorraine Rose owned the company, as an ISP I have no complaints. SirNemesis, your disconnection problems are not the fault of your ISP. if your ISP had a dodgy RADIUS then their entire customer base would be affected, and if they had a dodgy POI or LNS cluster then at best it would affect significant parts of the user base. I don't see this happening. the chances are much higher that your connection issues are unique to you, which means your modem, exchange port or phone line. I can further state this with some surety as the vast majority of the aaNet user base have long since been migrated to the Eftel network, thus eliminating server side problems almost completely. As to price rise and plan obsolescence, every ISP does it occasionally as costs dictate. it's one of the downsides of using a very low-cost ISP that can't sustain much tolerance of price fluctuations without passing them on to the customer. if it's such a problem to you then by all means churn, but the repercussions are that you will likely be either facing the same issues or paying more elsewhere. personally, my plan(s) have almost always been obsoleted, but aaNet have always allowed me to keep them as 'grandfathered' connections. at my current premises an aaNet rep has been nice enough to do me a custom plan to suit my needs, can't say much better than that.

It should have been finalised today. Didn't happen.
![]() "Telstra has not completed activation of your ADSL service." I hope it gets done by tomorrow afternoon. EDIT: Actually, I've just reread my status email. "Status: Telstra indicates your ADSL service should be installed on the 2008-05-01". So it should be done by tomorrow. |
